The timecard is a useful way for employees to track their hours. This provides useful insight into where time is spent and how efficiency could be increased.

After requesting a timecard or at 3pm, a robot named "Power Automate" will send you a timecard via teams. To view the timecard, navigate to the chat tab on the left side of the MS Teams window and press "Power Automate".

[[File:Timecard - Submitting - Chat tab gif.gif|center|frame]]

The timecard will look like this:
[[File:Timecard - Submitting - Timecard photo.png|center|thumb|580x580px]]
You must select the date and enter the estimate number. The cost plan number must match the cost plan number entered into the estimate book tender evaluation.

You may then fill in the number of hours for each activity and press submit. If you plan to submit another timesheet, that option may also be selected.

== Important Notes ==

* The estimate number must be in the exact format "20XX - XXX" with the space before and after the dash. Else there will be an error.
* There must be an estimate book created for the project of the timesheet ''before'' the timesheet is submitted.
* Only one timesheet may be submitted per project per day. If you submit a second one, it will overwrite the first. Each day, submit one timesheet per project.
* If filling out the timesheet at 3pm, estimate the remaining hours of the day.

oConverting a PDF file to an Excel file is very useful for entering data.

Firstly, the PDF file should be exported as a PNG. With the PDF open in Adobe Acrobat, click on file, the hover over "Export To" → "Image" → "PNG" and click.
[[File:Converting PDF to Excel - PDF to PNG gif.gif|center|thumb|1018x1018px]]A location for saving may be selected. Please note that it creates a separate PNG file for each page in the PDF so an empty folder should be created before this step.

Next, open a blank Excel file. Click on the "Page Layout" button in the bottom right.
[[File:Converting PDF to Excel - Page Layout Excel Screenshot.png|center|thumb|1045x1045px]]
Now, enter the header and press "Picture" in the "Header and Footer" tab. Click "From a file" and navigate to where the PNG photos are stored. Click the first page and click "Open"
[[File:Converting PDF to Excel - Inserting Header Picture gif.gif|center|thumb|1041x1041px]]
[[File:Convert PDF to Excel - Page Orientation Screenshot .png|thumb|543x543px]]

Next, click "Format Picture", set the height to 70% and click "Ok". When you click out of the header, the image should appear. You may change the page orientation to "Portrait" in the "Page Layout" tab as well. Should you prefer this, the height of the picture should be set to 90%. To adjust the height of the picture again, click back into the (now invisible) header and click "Format Picture".
[[File:Converting PDF to Excel - Formatting Header Picture gif.gif|center|thumb|1042x1042px]]IMPORTANT: After each page is added, add a piece of text somewhere on the page and colour it white. Excel will not print the page if there is no text. This text is best placed in the top left corner.
[[File:Convert PDF to Excel - Placing Text Gif.gif|center|thumb|1039x1039px]]
The final step is to align the Excel box with the lines on the picture. This can be done by changing the size of the cells on the left side and top of the window.
[[File:Convert PDF to Excel - Changing Cell Size gif.gif|center|thumb|1038x1038px]]
Now, these steps can be repeated for each page that needs to be added. Make a new worksheet for each new page. To print to PDF, click "File", "Save as Adobe PDF" and save the entire workbook. Click "Convert to PDF" and save to a location.
You must select the date and enter the estimate number.

At the moment, the cost plan is not supported; it must be left blank.

You may then fill in the number of hours for each activity and press submit. If you plan to submit another timesheet, that option may also be selected.
== Important Notes ==

Carsen der:

== Overview ==
Creating a new column or a new measure both fundamentally do the same thing. They are both methods of manipulating data for easier visualization. For most purposes, creating a new column is the easier method, especially for users who are familier with Excel. The reason that a measure may be used, is that the new values created from it are calculated as they are needed, they are not stored. This means that when the column is hundreds of thousands, or even millions of rows, a measure will keep the program running smoothly and quickly, whereas a new column may impact performance and size of the file.

== DAX ==
''DAX'' is a collection of functions, of which data can be manipulated and is the basis behind both columns and measures. If there is a large number of rows imported into Power BI, it is important to write your DAX expressions correctly to avoid the program slowing down. It has been shown that Power BI can support datasets with >a trillion rows with correctly written DAX. Some common DAX functions include (but are not even close to limited to):

* SUM: This adds all the numbers in the specified column ('''''SUM(<column>)''''')
* FILTER: The filter functions allows the manipulation of data context to create new calculations. This is one of the most useful DAX functions and creating a working knowledge of it is very powerful ('''''FILTER(<nowiki><table>,<filter>)</nowiki>''''')
* COUNT: The count function counts the number of rows in a given column ('''''COUNT(<column>)''''')

== Example ==
Here we will continue the example started on the [[Power BI]] page.

=== Example column ===

First, navigate to the dataview with the table icon on the left side of the window.[[File:Dataview.gif|center|thumb|1219x1219px]]Let's create a new column to change the format of the date. Select "New Column" in the "Table Tools" tab.

[[File:New Column.png|center|thumb|1229x1229px]]
Now we can highlight the text field and enter the following:

Date_Column(New) = FORMAT(Sheet1[date],"ddd, mmm dd/yy")
[[File:Textbox.png|center|thumb|1233x1233px]]
Let's break this DAX expression down.

# Date_Column(New): The text before the "=" sign specifies the name of the new column. This can be anything but for simplicity, we named it something easy to identify.
# FORMAT(): This DAX function converts a value to text, in this case a date value to our specified format.
# Sheet1[date]: As consistent with the usage of the FORMAT function, this specifies the value to be converted to text. "Sheet1" is the worksheet and "[date]" is the column to pull from. We can identify these two on the right side of the window.
# "ddd, mmm dd/yy": This specifies the format that we would like our date in.

Upon clicking enter, the column should populate with the same dates, just reformatted.

=== Example Measure ===
Navigate back to the report view here
[[File:Report View.png|center|thumb|1245x1245px]]
Lets create a new measure to find the sum of all the sizes. The twist of this measure will be that it will only account for jobs that were won.

Click "New Measure"
[[File:New Measure.gif|center|thumb|1243x1243px]]
Enter the following DAX expression:

Volume Won = CALCULATE(SUM(sheet1[size (mil)]),FILTER(sheet1,sheet1[won/lost]="won"))

Let's break this expression down into smaller parts:

# Volume Won: Again, just the name of the measure.
# CALCULATE: This function allows the evaluation of an expression with filters applied. In the case, we see two inputs. The SUM input and the FILTER input, separated by a comma.
# SUM: This is the expression to be evaluated. Just like the last time SUM was used, we are evaluating the sum of all the rows in the "size (mil)" column of the "sheet1" worksheet.
# FILTER: The first and only filter applied to the calculate function. The calculate function can take more than one filter but for this example, we just want one. In the FILTER function, we must specify the sheet and the criteria. The sheet is "sheet1" and the criteria is that the row in the column "[won/lost]" is ="won".

This expression may seem complicated to those unfamiliar to coding but expressions like this can be really powerful once one becomes familiar with their usage. The new measure we just created can be seen here:
# FORMAT(): This DAX function converts a value to text, in this case a date value to our specified format.
# Sheet1[date]: As consistent with the usage of the FORMAT function, this specifies the value to be converted to text. "Sheet1" is the worksheet and "[date]" is the column to pull from. We can identify these two on the right side of the window.
# "ddd, mmm dd/yy": This specifies the format that we would like our date in.

Upon clicking enter, the column should populate with the same dates, just reformatted.

=== Example Measure ===
Navigate back to the report view here
[[File:Report View.png|center|thumb|1245x1245px]]
Lets create a new measure to find the sum of all the sizes. The twist of this measure will be that it will only account for jobs that were won.

Click "New Measure"
[[File:New Measure.gif|center|thumb|1243x1243px]]
Enter the following DAX expression:

Volume Won = CALCULATE(SUM(sheet1[size (mil)]),FILTER(sheet1,sheet1[won/lost]="won"))

Let's break this expression down into smaller parts:

# Volume Won: Again, just the name of the measure.
# CALCULATE: This function allows the evaluation of an expression with filters applied. In the case, we see two inputs. The SUM input and the FILTER input, seperated by a comma.

== Overview ==

== DAX ==

== Example ==
Here we will continue the example started on the [[Power BI]] page.

=== Example column ===

=== Example Measure ===
Click "New Measure"
[[File:New Measure.gif|center|thumb|1243x1243px]]
Enter the following DAX expression:

Volume Won = CALCULATE(SUM(sheet1[size (mil)]),FILTER(sheet1,sheet1[won/lost]="won"))

Let's break this expression down into smaller parts:

# Volume Won: Again, just the name of the measure.
# CALCULATE: This function allows the evaluation of an expression with filters applied. In the case, we see two inputs. The SUM input and the FILTER input, seperated by a column.
# SUM: This is the expression to be evaluated. Just like the last time SUM was used, we are evaluating the sum of all the rows in the "size (mil)" column of the "sheet1" worksheet.

At the moment, the cost plan is not supported. At the moment it must be left blank.

You may then fill in the number of hours for each activity and press submit. If you plan to submit another timesheet, that option may also be selected.

== Important Notes ==

* The estimate number must be in the exact format "20XX - XXX" with the space before and after the dash. Else there will be an error.
* There must be an estimate book created for the timesheet of the project ''before'' the timesheet is submitted.
* Only one timesheet may be submitted per project per day. If you submit a second one, it will overwrite the first. Each day, submit one timesheet per project.
* If filling out the timesheet at 3pm, estimate the remaining hours of the day.
